The attorneys and staff at the Manchin Injury Law Group are pleased to join the West Virginia Legal Food Frenzy Drive. The Legal Food Frenzy Drive is a friendly competition among law firms throughout the state to help knock out hunger in West Virginia. The food drive runs from June 17,2013, through July 1, 2013.
While many people tend to think about hunger during the holiday season, with lots of food drives occurring around Thanksgiving, the summer months are often forgotten. Food insecurity is a year-round problem affecting millions of families and individuals across the country.
The summer months are the most difficult time for our nation’s food banks. During the school year, hungry children get the majority of their daily calories from free or reduced price school lunches. When school is our of session, those calories must come from somewhere else. There are summer meal programs, but 17 million children face a greater risk of hunger during the summer because those programs are difficult to access and are often underfunded.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Bring nonperishable food items to the Manchin Injury Law Group, located at 1543 Fairmont Ave, Suite 203, Fairmont, WV 26554 between June 17 and July 1.
In lieu of nonperishable items, monetary donations will be also be accepted.
All of the food donated during this time period will be given to area food pantries to assist those in our community with a need.
Help us knock out hunger this summer!
