Separate single car accidents in Wood County over the weekend caused death and significant severe injuries. According to news reports, just before 4 a.m. a vehicle lost control, went over an embankment and collided with a tree. Police with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department said that control was lost after receiving a text message. The passenger of the car was thrown and pinned between the car and the tree, causing fatal injuries. The driver was charged with DUI with reckless disregard causing death.
An additional weekend wreck in Wood County left one dead and another seriously injured. According to police and media reports, the accident happened in Elm Grove, West Virginia early Saturday morning when a driver lost control of his vehicle.
