The Manchin Injury Law Group announced that attorney Joseph (“Joey”) D. Garcia joined the firm on November 1, 2017.
A native of Fairmont, WV, Garcia will represent clients in all of the firm’s practice areas, including personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, and consumer protection.
Joey Garcia has served in the Office of the Governor of the State of West Virginia since 2012. He began as Deputy General Legal Counsel and Director of Legislative Affairs to then-Governor Earl Ray Tomblin. Governor Jim Justice later appointed Garcia as his Senior Counsel for Legislation and Policy in January of 2017.
Garcia has advised the Governor on legal issues and developed various legislative and policy initiatives, including the recently approved Roads to Prosperity Amendment. In 2015, Garcia was also appointed to serve as the first Chair of the West Virginia Juvenile Justice Reform Oversight Committee.
“We are pleased to add Joey to our team of dedicated attorneys at the Manchin Injury Law Group,” announced founding partner Tim Manchin. “Joey has counseled two Governors on high-level legal and legislative issues, and he will bring that same skill, intellect and commitment to the individuals we represent.”
“Joey has a true passion for helping those who have been injured or wronged,” noted partner Taylor Downs. “He is a great fit for our legal team.”
A 2001 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, Garcia earned his bachelor’s degree and law degree from West Virginia University.
“I am excited to work with Tim, Taylor, and the talented attorneys and staff at the Manchin Injury Law Group,” said Garcia . “I believe in the mission of the firm and look forward to helping working people in North Central West Virginia achieve the results they deserve.”
Attorney Timothy Manchin established the Manchin Injury Law Group in 2011 after his law partner of more than 25 years became a West Virginia circuit court judge. His focus is on helping individual clients and entire families victimized by negligent acts.
